Comedy Night > Dwayne Gill, Denise Ramsden After music from the Dream Team

Everyone has heard the old saying “Good Cop, Bad Cop? Well meet Funny Cop, Dwayne Gill.

As a professional stand-up comedian known for his engaging personality and stage presence, he can be depended on to serve up laughter wherever he appears. And when it comes to protecting, it’s not your funny bone he’s worried about - it’s the citizens of Michigan, since he’s also a cop!

Feeling his job requirements were a bit too serious for someone considered funny since birth; Dwayne found an outlet for his humor when he first stepped onto a comedy stage in 1993. To say he was well received would only serve to protect the audience from what really happened. They went crazy with laughter. After only two more performances, he joined the ranks of professional comedians with his first paid booking at Gadzooks Comedy Club. “Right then I knew comedy was what I was here on earth for,” he laughs. “And I’d much rather take laughter than a bullet any time.”

Denise Ramsden: Denise Ramsden is an innovative, original comedian, as she blends biting sarcasm and bold humor with personal experiences. Born and raised on the South side of Chicago, Denise loves to sarcastically pay tribute to her Irish Catholic upbringing. While a favorite among female audiences, her natural, honest sense of humor also greatly appeals to men, and no one is safe from the infectious laugh infused throughout her act. Denise discusses familiar topics and situations, which give her an accessible quality few comics share, but it is a combination that all audiences remember

She has gotten the chance to work with such comics as Jake Johannsen (her favorite), Kevin Pollak, and Artie Lange. After participating in year-long Survivor-like contest, Denise was voted Chicagoland’s Funniest New Talent at the Barrel of Laughs in January 2004. Plus, you can run into her vending/slinging Old Style and movie lines almost every game at Wrigley Field, just listen for her laugh.

After catch music from "The Dream Team".

TJAX MALEK-I SINGER, SONG WRITER, ARRANGER AND PRODUCER OF SOME OF THE MOST CRUCIAL REGGAE MUSIC IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE TODAY, WAS BORN IN MANCHESTER, JAMAICA IN A SMALL FARM VILLAGE KNOWN AS MEADSFIELD.

Music has been an integral part of Tjax Malek-I’s life. Growing up in Jamaica, Tjax remembers that music seeped out from every corner of his life, like juice from a sun ripened mango reggae flowed trough him, out of him and all around him. His childhood memories are of festivals and family gatherings all rich with the sweet sounds of the island. From a very early age, he remembers not only wanting to create music but live music. To the delight of those around him Tjax showed promising talent as he was able to perform songs after hearing them played just once. The island provided young Tjax with not only strong foundation for music but also allowed it to enter his soul and that can only happen if you are truly immersed in it.

THIS FRESH VIBRANT SOUND OF TJAX MALEK-I IS SURE TO ENDURE THE TEST OF TIME.

Sunday September 5
PINK FREUD is THE BEST PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE you'll ever hear, featuring four of the best rock musicians in the country. When you close your eyes, you will swear you are sitting in the best seats in the house, listening to Pink Floyd rock the way you remember them. When you open your eyes, you'll keep asking yourself the question "HOW THE HELL ARE THEY DOING THIS WITH JUST FOUR GUYS??" While other bands have gone the easy route and relied upon smoke and mirrors to "capture Pink Floyd", the truth is, they have neglected the most important aspects: the sound, the musicianship, and the soul of the music. But don't take our word for it, check out what these folks had to say....then come hear it for yourself!!!!!
Thursday September 9
I didn't book The Waldemere Revival because they're always professional. I didn't book them because they're some of the nicest guys around. I booked them simply because they are good. Maybe "good" is an understatement. The Waldemere Revival is PHENOMENAL. Every time I see them perform a show it's always better and different then the last. To me, that shows their true talent. If you haven't got the chance to see TWR play, then you need to check their schedule quick! They're one of the fast growing Indy rock bands around. I've watched TWR as their schedule consistently fills up every month, and to me that means people want this band.
Friday September 10
The Rain Dogs are a completely original band that sounds uniquely unlike any other. Although this fiery foursome has the standard drum, bass, and two guitars of other rock bands, the execution of their songs is anything but standard. Although there are elements in their music that reflect various influences, The Rain Dogs' music definitely takes alternative rock to a new and creative direction. The Rain Dogs' songs are written from emotions that create infectious and addictive grooves, which flirt with hints of early punk, 60's rock, modern pop, and a subtle touch of Goth. Making the sound difficult to describe, but not difficult to remember. Each song takes on it's own life, differing from each other, with a combination of two to three part harmonies, high energy and extreme dynamics; driven by an intense lead vocal. A night with the Rain Dogs will run the emotional gamut from sweaty jams, to concise tunes, and will appeal to an audience who likes original heart-felt rock & roll.
Saturday September 11

Footnote: back in the day - rewind to 1964-66 - my high school years - Satisfaction was 1 (AM radio only!). We formed a band to do "Stones" - maybe the first tribute band!! I saw them live in '65 at McCormick Place (Brian Jones does dulcimer on "Lady Jane"), in '69 (Mick Taylor - the Gimmie Shelter tour) at the Ampitheater in Chicago, & in '72 in Indianapolis. Before that I had purchased the first Stones album "England's Newest Hitmakers" (vinyl) - never having heard them before but they had Jimmy Reed & Chuck Berry tunes & that was good enough for me. That's why you guys really blow my mind- the torch has been passed!! May the good Lord shine a light on you!

Hello Dave has been playing music all around the country and the world for the past... whole bunch of years. It all began at Eastern Illinois University at the turn of the 90s. The first, self titled, cd came out in '93 and they've been full time ever since. -Founder and vocalist Mike Himebaugh says, "why the hell not!" - Lead guitar abusing hippy, Magoo quips, "shoot, we'ev (he actually mis-spelled the word while speaking) seen the rains down in Africa, and we got paid." -Peter "Petah" Bauschke recently took over for long time drummer, Rez, and he's never been so excited to play the keyboards. Big Al Wetzel, bass player, remembers when..................? Just come see 'em play!

Pfreak Show has been knocking the socks, shoes, pants and halter-tops off mid-west club goers for the past 5 years with no real end in sight. With the emphasis on performance, Pfreak Show has raised the bar for all other acts by setting attendance records at nearly all of their venues. The seamless show of non-stop entertainment is no accident. Pfreak Show has been known to say "first we must entertain ourselves, we came out tonight to try and have more fun than the audience" This seems to be a never-ending battle with both sides victorious. This multimedia show with pfreaky and hilarious video clips, is woven in to a rambunctious cocktail shaker of psychedelic rock, spaced-out funk, hardcore rock, freestyle disco rap and everything else under the sun up to, and including the proverbial kitchen sink.
