COMEDY NIGHT!!
Featuring Dean Mink and
DK Hamilton
...Music by Keith Scott
Dean Mink is one funny comic.  He's likeable, intelligent and his conservative look hides a real wolf in sheep's clothing.  Truly a zany brand of comedy that will keep you guessing.  Dean has performed at over fifty comedy clubs including the Improv (Dallas), Comedy Castle (Detroit), and the Laff Stop (Houston).  He has also been a guest on National Public Radio and NBC.

Opener D.K. Hamilton entertains his audience by giving a unique and sardonic take on pop culture, current events and relationships between men and women (which he describes as "battles of wills") and combines his talent of vividly describing life with a gunslinger-like quickness of wit.  D.K. is a two-time winner of Grand Rapids' Joke-Off, an award-winning humor columnist and a contributor to internet humor site The Phat Phree.

Music by Chicago's Keith Scott. Come down and check his unique blues style out! He's been at it for 20 plus years and is ready to take Czar's on full steam ahead. Has worked on major national projects and has played with many well known musicians. Don't miss this special night.

Thursday January 13
Singer/songwriter, acoustic guitar, harmonica -

I remember hanging out on Bonita Beach, Florida on a two month sabbatical from my last real job. It was a Monday in May, 1982. A local club owner was listening to me play the only ten songs I knew. He asked me to play that night and I agreed to $50 since he said "no" to the $200 I suggested. After renting a sound system and buying my own drinks, I think the night cost me $19 to do the one thing I completely enjoyed.

With more than 8,000 play dates behind me since then, I'm still grateful to be playing my kind of music - I call it "warm weather music". I have played for huge crowds and intimate gatherings, in big bars and beer joints. It doesn't get much better than singing Jimmy Buffett songs for a living. Except maybe singing original songs once in a while.
Friday January 14

PINK FREUD is THE BEST PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE you'll ever hear, featuring four of the best rock musicians in the country. When you close your eyes, you will swear you are sitting in the best seats in the house, listening to Pink Floyd rock the way you remember them. When you open your eyes, you'll keep asking yourself the question "HOW THE HELL ARE THEY DOING THIS WITH JUST FOUR GUYS??" While other bands have gone the easy route and relied upon smoke and mirrors to "capture Pink Floyd", the truth is, they have neglected the most important aspects: the sound, the musicianship, and the soul of the music. But don't take our word for it, come hear it for yourself!!!!!

Dot Dot Dot formed in 2007 when select members of two well-known Chicago-based cover bands joined forces. The plan was to bring their unique talents together to create a distinctive and dynamic live act, rather than to rely on a limited theme or particular musical genre.   Their music might be described as a thrilling union of rock elements cloaked in dance beats with synthy frills.
Thursday February 3
COMEDY NIGHT!!!
Featuring guest MC: Mr. Happypants
Comedians: Davin Rosenblatt and Matt McClowry   with Band  Wil Harvest
Mr. Happypants of the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque Show will be our guest host for the evening!!!!

New York comedian Davin Rosenblatt has been entertaining audiences throughout the country for several years.  His likeable, yet confident style leaves audiences wanting more of his unique perspective on being Jewish in modern society.  As a comic he is bold, full of confidence and in complete control of the audience and the stage.

Opener Matt McClowry always wanted to be one of two things: a stand-up comic or a professional wrestler.  Be glad he chose the former.  Matt's talent is truly unique; he was dianosed at an early age with Asperger's Syndrome (a high-functioning for of Autism).  While many "Aspies" apply this focus in trivial, unproductive ways, Matt is able to channel it into his act by constantly building on his repertoire of material.  A wordsmith with a perceptive eye, Matt's act is refreshingly honest and brutally funny.

Wil Harvest, based in SW Michigan, is a high energy crowd pleasing buffet of music that you want to hear! Our first goal is to bring a rock concert/party atmosphere to where ever we are. We perform a huge list of rockin' songs from the 60's through today! We also pull a few blues songs out as well as country and disco........Oh and did I mention that the drummer IS the Frontman?!?!?! You gotta check this out!!!

Wil Harvest has shared the stage with such artists as: Billy Squier, Puddle of Mudd, David Allan Coe and many others

Thursday February 10
Longevity, consistency, and stability are adjectives rarely associated with independent rock bands; however, they are accurate descriptions of Stereo Deluxe, the Indianapolis-based power-pop quartet. Stereo Deluxe's four  members Jay Elliot, Matt Hogan, Luke Schneider, and Ben Tatum have been friends since childhood  and playing music together since 1998. The band spent their formative years developing their sound under various band names playing literally hundreds of house parties, youth centers, and dive bars to anyone who would listen. The result of their journey is an energized, raucous, and fully-realized rock sound.
Friday February 11
Libido Funk Circus has been around since September of 1996. They played their first ever show as a complete and utter JOKE. They were gonna hire another band to play a huge disco bash they were throwing but finally decided it would be funnier to learn a bunch of disco songs themselves. Within hours they had offers to play more shows...and the rest is history! Having toured the Midwest relentlessly for the past 12 years, the only thing more astonishing than the number of shows they have performed is how many songs they know!!! AND Libido Funk Circus is only THREE degrees from the mighty Kevin Bacon! In 2000, Libido Funk Circus appeared in a movie called Vanilla City with actor Danny Teinowitz...he was in The Road to Perdition with Tom Hanks...Tom Hanks was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon. Boom!
Saturday February 12
Their sound is ingenious and infused with a magical spell that combines a psychological free-falling emotional compass of ambient folk and lyrical rock. Audiences are transcended into an almost hypnotic state of visceral musical seduction and heart-pulsing emotional highs and lows. Passion through cadence, intensity through intonation and the rhythmically silent verbosity that speaks volumes to those that have spent an intimate evening with these enigmatic musicians will be thrilled by a sound, unclassified. The Waldermere Revival is doing precisely what it set out to do: resonating with audiences both young and old that are transfixed by their music
Thursday February 17

Covert's growing and loyal fan base continue to help spread the music, and plays a vital role to their live performance. A Covert show is a place for people to come together in song and dance in what may best be described as a celebration of life.

COMEDY: Mimi Gonzales & Adam Degi with musical guest Shock Roxy
Mimi Gonzalez is a road-tested, high-octane comedian who takes the audience on a wild ride from the profound to the profane. Bawdy and political, her ferocious idealism of inclusion has been embraced by colleges, Prides, comedy clubs, resorts, festivals, cruises and even battlefields.  Mimi’s answered the call of duty to the U.S. armed forces and made them laugh in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Korea, Japan and Guam.  Her television appearances include: LOGO’s “One Night Stand Up,” the “Today” show, Mo Gaffney’s “Women Aloud,” “Ellen,” “Que Loco,” “Funny is Funny,” and “Latino Laugh Festival.” She’s even been a morning-show co-host on New York’s WPYX.

Adam Degi
grew up in Whitehall, Mi and began his career by performing in talent shows.  He won a rap battle at Grand Valley State University but shortly after realized he was too funny and too white to rap.  He got his start at Dr. Grins Comedy Club and jumped at any chance to get on stages all around Michigan by performing in bars, restaurants, bowling alleys, hotels, vfw's and even a sports complex where a lacrosse practice went on while he did.  Adam has a very sarcastic and original way of performing and revels in the fact that his jokes are impossible to steal because of this 'special brand.'  He won the 'Funniest Person in Grand Rapids' Contest that began with over 100 contestants.  Rumor has it he once got a standing ovation from the Harlem Globetrotters after a joke about 'doing the dirty' to the their theme song.  Someday, if all goes well, he'd like to be black and entertain the world.

Shock Roxy is retooled and ready to rock you all this new year!  We have Sallie Pierpont handling Lead Vocals, with Shane Stephic (formerly of Groovehead) also on Lead Vox and playing Guitar.  Dave Alan on the Drums, Rob Kaufman on Bass and vocals, and Jack Ransbottom on Lead Guitar and vocals.

Pfreak Show has been knocking the socks, shoes, pants and halter-tops off mid-west club goers for the past 5 years with no real end in sight. With the emphasis on performance, Pfreak Show has raised the bar for all other acts by setting attendance records at nearly all of their venues. The seamless show of non-stop entertainment is no accident. Pfreak Show has been known to say "first we must entertain ourselves, we came out tonight to try and have more fun than the audience" This seems to be a never-ending battle with both sides victorious. This multimedia show with pfreaky and hilarious video clips, is woven in to a rambunctious cocktail shaker of psychedelic rock, spaced-out funk, hardcore rock, freestyle disco rap and everything else under the sun up to, and including the proverbial kitchen sink. ..

Since March of 1993. the Chicago Rhythm and Blues Kings have been blasting out their own soul-steeped brand of R&B and blues on a nightly basis. But anyone who knows Windy City blues and R&B realizes that this band's collective history harks back a great deal further than that. Prior to '93, they were the celebrated Mellow Fellows, the high-energy, brass-leavened outfit that supplied skin-tight backing for giant-sized soul/blues singer Big Twist until his tragic 1990 death. For more than a decade, Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows reigned as one of the hottest attractions on the mid-west blues circuit.

Thursday April 28

Friday April 29
Often referred to the human jukebox, The Unit, a cover based in Northwest Indiana, prides itself on a huge song repertoire, enabling the band to make each performance unique. The combined experiences of over 30 years in the music industry enable the members of The Unit to fluently execute many styles of music from classic rock tunes, retro 80's dance songs, 70's disco and funk, Motown, R&B, blues, Jazz, Reggae, country, rap and hip hop, commercial jingles, and TV show themes. It has also enabled the band to play a wide variety of venues from large performance halls and outdoor festivals, to local bars and small private parties. The most common compliment of the Unit is the versatility and high energy of their performances. In addition to a high energy, highly musical stage show, the band keeps a relaxed attitude, usually cracking themselves up along with the crowd. Peppering their shows with numerous cornball antics and wisecracking comments in between songs, the band has become infamous for keeping the crowd dancing all night, while laughing and cheering at the same time. It is truly a new level of performance and entertainment.

Comedy Night: Steve Sabo & Kris Peters  With Musical Guest:  Kevin Henry
Steve Sabo has been described as a "dark light at the end of an even darker tunnel" and a "mental workout" by both fans and critics alike. He is one of a new breed of comics that "take no prisoners." His honest and aggressive form of monology always leaves the audience salivating for more...

Kris Peters practices the art of stand up comedy, comedy writing and performing for a living. To Kris, it's all about laughing. From a child, Kris learned that laughing felt good and provided an escape from the horrific standard woes of childhood such as parental authority, school work and growing responsibility.

Kevin Henry made his career as a performer since 1982 when he left his last real job behind in Florida. He is famous in Michigan for his unique song list he calls "warm weather music" - a blend of classic rock and Buffett songs that he plays on his acoustic guitar. He's played for huge crowds and intimate gatherings, in big bars and beer joints.

You may remember him as the leader of the All-Star Frogs (1970-1983) and the Power Trio (1983-present), doing humorous and raunchy blues originals such as "Tie You Up!" and "More Love, More Money". You may remember the Tumatoe tours of local clubs and endless spins of his songs on college radio in the '70s and '80s. You may not know that he played in a FIJI house band (Lothar and the Hand People) at the University of Illinois, the band name created by Bill Geist, CBS Sunday Morning News Correspondent; recorded for Warner Bros. (I Like My Job, produced by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame); and was a member of REO Speedwagon - he left in 1969, evidently taking all rocking bluesy rootsy-ness with him - and he grew up on the South Side of Chicago, a blues-loving youth who hung with the legends.

International Reggae Super Star Everton Blender
One of the few Jamaican singers to truly bridge the gap between the roots and dancehall reggae styles is the man known as Everton "Blender." When reggae fans hear the opening notes of "Lift Up Your Head," "Ghetto People Song," "Blend Dem," etc., they instantly recognize these songs as the cultural anthems of our time. The large number of hits Everton has accrued is most impressive for an artist who has been in the business for such a seemingly short period of time. But like many of Jamaica's biggest musical stars, the road to fame wasn't a short or easy one.

Everton Williams was born in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, but grew up in Kingston 13 on Maxfield Avenue. Everton worked as a painter, construction worker, and decorator, but he realized that the strong chemicals he was working with were not good for his voice or his health in general. With divine help and direction, he decided to leave his job to pursue a singing career.

Funktion, the 7-man band based in Kalamazoo, MI, delivers their dare-you-not-to-dance blend of funk and soul with a hip-hop beat that isn’t afraid to straddle genres – including rock and jazz. Whether they’re entertaining in a small basement bar or a Chicago club, the rhythm section lays down a skillful, yet simple groove, while up from the center comes a shockwave of energy from the driving percussion and soulful vocals. Studebaker John Grimaldi was born in an Italian-American section of Chicago and started playing harmonica at age 7. Under the spell of music he heard on Maxwell Street, Chicago’s famed blues melting pot, Grimaldi began performing as Studebaker John and the Hawks in the ‘70s. The band name referenced the Studebaker Hawk, a car Grimaldi still owns today, and was also intended as a tribute to his friend, J.B. Hutto and the Hawks. John began playing guitar after a life-changing experience of seeing Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers perform. “…Hound Dog started playing, hitting notes that sent chills up and down my spine. He was versatile and powerful and would play rhythm as well as leads. I left there knowing what I wanted to do. I had to play slide guitar.”

As a songwriter and musician, Studebaker John has emerged as a major creative force in the world of the blues today. Ahead of the pack, with vision and foresight, creating a new standard and landscape for this music’s future… with John at the wheel, the future is now!

Taylor Clark simply knew what he loved. He was born into the world the same way. He feels the same emotions and pays the same amounts of money. Through the inevitability of his personal life experiences, he was shaped into the person he was - a writer, a musician, an artist - speaking through his work to the people around him with the cross-fingered hope that it will communicate something to them. It is only a question of how to communicate such affluence.

As the title of his critically acclaimed Atlantic Record CD suggests, Grammy Award and Handy Award Nominee, John Primer is truly "The Real Deal."  At eight years old, John borrowed his first guitar and started to strum.  With the sounds of Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Little Milton, Elmore James, B.B & Albert King reverberation through his Grandmother Laura Nell's tube radio, John was instantly hooked.  He was fascinated with Blues music and set forth on a life long path of becoming a musical force.  He has since toured extensively in support of his ten solo albums to date.  With John Primer's strong traditionalist Blues phrasing and lightning fast slide technique, few artists can match him.  A master storyteller and songwrither, his catalog of songs is endless and his sound is unforgettable.  John Primer & The Real Deal Blues Band continues to electrify audiences at clubs and festivals, and remain a driving force in the world of Blues music today!

Luckily for us there is a band that can show us all the branches of funk. No matter what frequency your eardrums vibrate at, the sonic eruption from Kalamazoo based Funktion will dose them at the right waves per second. It could be the silky smooth R&B that gets you. Or maybe it's the cool island dub rhythms that grab your ears. Then again it might be the rowdy hip-hop flavor that seizes your attention. But if none of that snatches your marbles, the unhinged, guitar-fueled fireball of funk will surely do the trick. Any way you slice it, if you've got a pair of ears, Funktion will unwrap something for them to chew on.

Lindsay Rachel Petroff was raised in Michigan's upper peninsula by a family of musicians, and started performing for anyone who asked no later than she had learned to walk and talk. Family gatherings taught her how to use her voice to be a part of something, and by high school, her voice had won her a number of awards including "best vocal soloist" at The North American Music Festival in New York and a scholarship to Interlochen Arts academy. Her influences, outside the family, have been singers like Nat King Cole and songwriters like the Indigo Girls. But lately Michigan's thriving folk music scene has been her biggest influence.

Born in Amarillo, Texas, Trevor McSpadden grew up in the country music tradition, his earliest years set to a backdrop of George Jones and Tammy Wynette on the radio and the Nashville Network on the television set. A move to San Marcos at a young age exposed Trevor to the dancehall music of Central Texas. Night after night, Trevor was captivated by the power of a good band moving couples across the hardwood. Enamored with the music, he set out to learn the basics on his grandfather's Gibson knock-off. Friends soon became bandmates, and Trevor began to cut his teeth as a serious musician, songwriter, and bandleader, touring the roadhouses and nightclubs of the Texas Hill Country.

Fresh Wreckage is a female fronted American pop rock band, officially formed in Columbus, Ohio, United States in October of 2010. In early June 2011, Fresh Wreckage released their Debut EP, Message In The Music!, which included 3 sneak peek bonus tracks. In late June 2011, the EP, less the bonus tracks, was officially released for sale in the iTunes store. The band recorded their EP with Joe Viers, owner of Sonic Lounge Studio, in Columbus, Ohio.

Chicago-born Duke Tumatoe is a musician/showman who has retained a firm career by fusing gritty R&B, rock, blues, and funk injected with equal parts humor and gut-level sincerity.

Tumatoe was a founding member of what would become REO Speedwagon. His tenure with that band was short-lived, leaving in 1969 and forming Duke Tumatoe & the All-Star Frogs. For the next 13 years, they toured relentlessly playing throughout the Midwest on countless collegecampuses and bars. Because of this grueling tour schedule, the band managed to release two albums, Red Pepper Hot! (1976) and Back to Chicago (1982).

In 1983, Tumatoe decided to slow down the pace and break up the Frogs. He immediately rebounded with the creation of the Power Trio, who recorded Duke's Up for Blind Pig Records. Tumatoe took advantage of the more flexible schedule and formed his own record label, Sweetfinger Music. Over the next several years,Tumatoe released four discs on his label, Dr. Duke (1992), Wild Animals (1994), Greatest Hits Plus (1996), and the all-instrumental Picks & Sticks (1997).

Throughout his illustrious career, Tumatoe opened for several legendary figures in blues and rock, including Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, George Thorogood, Fabulous Thunderbirds, and John Fogerty. Fogerty was so taken with Tumatoe's performance, he produced the critically acclaimed 1988 live album I Like My Job! on Warner Bros. In 1999, Tumatoe signed with the J-Bird label, which released A Ejukatid Man that same year. In 2001, Tumatoe had tongue firmly in cheek with the releases Pompous & Overrated and the raunchy seasonal disc It's Christmas (Let's Have Sex). Duke Tumatoe & the Power Trio appeared from Sweetfinger Records in 2003, followed by 2006's You've Got the Problem! on Blind Pig Records.

In November 2010, Duke released his newest album, "I Just Want to Be Rich."

The JR Clark Band, based out of Kalamazoo MI, is fresh off their latest release JR Clark "Alive" at The Midway. The two disc cd set was recorded in front of a packed house in Mishawaka, IN and the energy from that night was really captured in the performance. This (4) piece band brings many flavors in their performance from Chicago Blues, to soul and even a little southern rock. These guys do it all. No show is the same. Band leader and vocalist JR Clark has also been dubbed the "heir to the fez" by Chicago Blues legend Lil' Ed Williams of "Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials" fame. "I am honored that Ed sees enough of himself in me that he calls me his adopted son" said Clark. Having performed with and toured with Lil Ed has rubbed off on Clark also, which can be seen by his high energy performances, stage antics and backbends! Not only does Clark play a mean slide guitar he is also a double threat on standard guitar. "Covering artists such as Luther Allison, Michael Burks and Larry McCray has really helped me step up my game" said Clark. An original artist, Clark has two previous discs out of all original material except for one cover song. Band members consist of: JR Clark-Guitars and vocals, Timson Taliaferro-Drums and Backup vocals, Denny Love- Bass and Willie Phips- Keyboards, Hammond Organ. This is one band that is sure to never disappoint!

Comedy Night - Mo Alexander &
Chris Hegedus
: music by Topher and the Offbeats
Intelligence, debauchery, and all around entertainment, Mo Alexander is one of the most complete comics working in clubs and private events around today. Mo has no aspirations of resting on his laurels while there is funny to be spread upon this earth. Watching Mo Alexander is a night of hilarity and mischief that one won't soon forget. Though, he usually tries to leave you with the underlying message,"I'm trying to save the world, one comedy show at a time." and if he has to kick a kid off a bike to do it, well, you have to start somewhere.

Chris Hegedus is a young, witty comedian who loves to perform for an audience armed with a light and microphone. On stage, he shows characteristics from all three of his parents: sarcasm from his father, aloof playfulness from his mother, and sensibility and common sense from his stepmother. Chris challenged his act to grow more personal, intelligent, and thought provoking. Clever, relevant, funny - Chris is edgy but not vulgar; young but universal. Whether speaking on current culture, his own experiences, or everyday life; Chris wants everyone to laugh, think, and enjoy the moment.
